We begin by sequencing through yang asana to generate internal heat in the body; this allows muscles to strengthen, warm and stretch, extending heat to deeper connective tissues to later facilitate initial ease in yin holds. After our yang sequence, we cool the body, transitioning to yin asana, extending residual heat to allow deeper stress and opening of the connective tissues.

I recommend doing this class in silence (no music!) to allow yourself to be in a meditative and still body~mind state during yin asana.
